Former Patriots Assistant Coach Matt Patricia Has Chance To Join Eagles Staff

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Philadelphia Eagles are considering former Patriots offensive coordinator Matt Patricia to become the team’s new linebackers coach, according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald.

The Eagles linebackers coach position was recently vacated when Nick Rallis departed to become the new defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles hired Sean Desai as their new defensive coordinator.

It would be a return to the same role he had with the Patriots from 2006-2010, before he moved over to safeties and eventually defensive coordinator with the team.

Patricia interviewed for the Denver Broncos’ defensive coordinator role earlier in the offseason. Sean Payton opted to go with Vance Joseph for the job instead.
