Former Minnesota Vikings First Round Pick Mike Hughes Signs with Detroit

Written by Nate

As we approach just over a month left until the 2022 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have added some depth to their young secondary.

Via Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus (PFF), Detroit signed former first-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings in cornerback Mike Hughes to a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million.

Prior to joining the Lions, Hughes is coming off his best season in his career being a defensive back with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Along with the tweet below, the former 2018 first rounder out of Central Florida allowed a 61% completion percentage and tallied one interception and six pass breakups.

Hughes will be joining a young, but improving secondary that will field cornerbacks Ifeatu Melifonwu, Amani Oruwariye, Jerry Jacobs, AJ Parker, Jeff Okudah, and safeties (thus far) Tracy Walker, CJ Moore and Will Harris.
