Fight Breaks Out After District Championship Game in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (Ironwood)

Written by Nate

There was a lot of action in high school boys basketball as local teams fight for the district championship to advance further in the state playoffs. However, there was one team in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that literally fought on the court with other students after the game is over.

Via a Facebook post by user Marc Switzer, a player from Wakefield-Marenisco school (#30) got into a scuffle with a fellow student from Ironwood after the Cardinals lost to the Red Devils in Ironwood.

In the post, one user pointed out that one fan was ‘clapping’ in front of the Cardinals player’s face after both teams shook hands. And after the fan clapped at him, the player went after the fan until he was taken down by another student.

Then after the player was down, a few other students were seen on camera throwing a couple punches at the player until the fight was broken up a few seconds later.

Yet the fight would not affect the final score as Ironwood rallied back to beat Wakefield-Marenisco, 59-56. Per the Red Devils booster post, the recording of the fight is currently under review.
