According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, a text message from Earl Thomas lll says that “I’m ready…I’m in shape. My timing is on point – I’m proud of that.” Thomas, 32, is a seven time Pro-Bowl Safety and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was a key member of the legendary ‘Legion of Boom’ defense. During his nine seasons in Seattle, Thomas racked up 67 pass deflections, 11 forced fumbles, and 28 total interceptions.
Although he has not finished a season since 2016, and has not played in the NFL since 2019, he says that he is ready to go, and I’m sure that a team is willing to take a risk on the star 32 year old. Some desperate and needy teams at safety include the Eagles and Saints, though I’m sure they would rather sign a younger and healthier Tyrann Mathieu, who remains a free agent.
Nonetheless, whoever takes a risk and signs Earl Thomas, will be getting a high motored and physical player, who puts all of his energy into every snap of the ball.
