Eagles Safety Signing With The Raiders

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Las Vegas Raiders are signing safety Marcus Epps from the Philadelphia Eagles, as per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Epps spent his four seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and the Eagles. He went from the Vikings to the Eagles in the middle of his rookie season in 2019.

In 2022, Epps played the most snaps of any Eagles player with 1,058. He had 94 tackles and six passes defended during the Eagles successful season.

This is the third significant loss for the Eagles defense today. They have reportedly lost LB T.J. Edwards, DT Javon Hargrave, and now Epps.

Epps’ departure means the Eagles will need at least one new starting safety in 2023. If CJGJ isn’t back, they’ll need two.

Undrafted free agent Reed Blankenship could conceivably take over one of those jobs. Epps will count towards the Eagles compensatory pick formula as it relates to the 2024 NFL Draft.
