Eagles Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson Called Out Former Defensive Coordinator

Written by Tony Ghaul

Philadelphia Eagles Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is calling out new Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Jonathan Gannon, his former Defensive Coordinator.

Gardner-Johnson tweets and deletes:

“You ain’t put us in position to make plays” about Jonathan Gannon’s scheme during the Super Bowl.

He quickly followed up his inflammatory tweet and said that he was heading back to bed, essentially done with this conversation for the day:

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is a free agent and keeping him in the fold for 2023 and beyond is a big priority. He made six interceptions throughout the regular season, which led the NFL for a while, and was still good enough for a four-way tie by the end even after missing five games with a lacerated kidney.

The Eagles traded a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-rounder to the Saints for Gardner-Johnson just before the season and moved the ex-Saints slot cornerback to safety upon acquiring him.
