The Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts for the first time after signing a five-year extension worth $255 million with just under $180 million guaranteed.

During the press conference on Monday, Hurts was asked why he didn’t push for a fully guaranteed contract while negotiating with the team. Hurts said it “takes a village” to build a team as special as the one the Eagles had during last season’s run to the Super Bowl.

“Money is nice, championships are better,” Hurts said.

Three years ago on this day, the Eagles shocked the NFL by selecting QB Jalen Hurts with the 53rd overall selection, during Round 2 of 2021’s NFL Draft.

The Eagles and Jalen Hurts have come a long way in those three years.

The contract extension comes on the heels of Jalen Hurts leading the Eagles to an NFC title in the 2022 NFL season and to a appence in Super Bowl 57.

Although the Eagles fell short of accomplishing the main goal last season, Jalen Hurts looked the part of a franchise QB.

Last season, Hurts passed for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns against six interceptions while completing 66.5 percent of his throws. He also rushed for 760 yards and 13 touchdowns on 165 carries.

The 24 year-old Hurts was runner-up for the NFL MVP award last year. The future is very bright for the Eagles and Jalen Hurts.
