The Philadelphia Eagles will be on the market for a running back this offseason. Last year’s starting RB D’Andre Swift is expected to command big time cash in free agency.
The Eagles only have Kenneth Gainwell at the running back position under contract in 2024.
Three-time All-Pro RB Derrick Henry is set to hit free agency for the first time in his eight-year career and the Eagles have been selected as favorites to sign him.
Henry said in January on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, “At the end of the day, I want to win the Super Bowl.”
“Wherever that is that gives me the best chance, that’s what I want to do. I don’t have no bad blood or feel no type of way if I’m not back. It’s just what was supposed to happen. The story is already written, we’re all just living it.”
The Eagles have been to the playoffs in six of its last seven seasons, including a trip to the Super Bowl after its 2022 campaign.
They would certainly fit the bill of what Henry is looking for. The Eagles offense of QB Jalen Hurts, with WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, TE Dallas Goedert would be even more impressive with All-Pro RB Derrick Henry in the backfield.
The 30 year-old Henry can still help an offense and he is not looking break the bank. He is looking to win a Super Bowl.
If the price is right, Henry would be a good addition to the Eagles offense.
