Eagles DTs Jalen Carter And Jordan Davis Give Veteran Players Extra Motivation

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Philadelphia Eagles defensive line is one of the best in the NFL. It’s deep and extremely talented.

At heart of the defensive line are Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. Two young DT’s from the University of Georgia. Both are first round draft picks. Davis in 2022 and Carter in 2023.

Their play and enthusiasm is making the veteran defensive lineman to work harder. It’s giving them a shot of extra motivation. Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox are taking notice and it’s breathing life into the seasoned veterans.

“Heck, yeah,” said Graham. “I see Fletch going out there balling because he sees those boys on his butt, and I know for me, too. Even for me being in year 14, I know I don’t have long left but I’m not going to make it easy for you, either. I’m going to be working just as hard.”

Graham is on his 14th season and is still playing like the young man that Eagles selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft.

Cox was a first-round pick in 2012 and is having a comeback season, after a couple of down years. The veteran DT is playing at high-level and seems to have a jump in his step.

Graham is enjoying watching Carter and Davis play. He and Cox are enjoying mentoring the young players.

“I tell them boys (Carter and Davis) keep feeding off each other, keep motivating each other, bring each other along, and follow the right ones,” said Graham. “Like I told them, they should be commanding a lot of money. They shouldn’t be on the same team, but (general manager) Howie (Roseman) is a magician. He made it work.”

The Eagles face the Chiefs in Super Bowl rematch on Monday Night in Kansas City. They have the best record in the NFL at 8-1.

Monday Night’s game begins the toughest stretch of the season for the Eagles and the play of the talented defensive line will be a key to their success.
