The Philadelphia Eagles have drafted first-round defensive tackles from the University of Georgia in back to back years.

In 2022, they selected Jordan Davis and this year they drafted Jalen Carter with the ninth selection overall.

Davis said on Thursday that he had a feeling the Eagles would wind up selecting Carter early in the draft and he was excited when his premonition came true in April.

Davis said that Carter “knows what to expect from me, and I know what to expect from him” while discussing how that familiarity will benefit the Eagles on the field this season.

“I’m like, ‘Hey, let’s get freaky,’” Davis said, via Chris Franklin of NJ.com. “If I want to jab inside, then make sure you cover me. Just stuff like that. He had three-plus years of experience with that at Georgia, so I could look at him a certain kind of way he gets the message.”

The Eagles also drafted two more Georgia players this year. They selected edge rusher Nolan Smith with their second first-round pick and cornerback Kelee Ringo in the fourth round.

Last year, the Eagles selected linebacker Nakobe Dean in the third round. Dean is penciled in to start this year, after playing mainly on special teams last year.

Those players helped the Georgia Bulldogs win back-to-back national titles and were key components of college football’s dominant defense.
