Eagles Defeat Chiefs In The NFL’s Marquee Matchup

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 21-17 and move to a NFL best 9-1 on the season.

In a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl, the Eagles shutout the Chiefs in the second half and overcame a 17-7 halftime deficit.

After being under heavy pressure from the Chiefs defense, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ran for two touchdowns and completed 14 of 22 passes for 150 yards and one interception.

Hurts completed a clutch 41 yard pass to WR DeVonta Smith, which set up the game winning touchdown. A one yard run by Hurts. Smith had 6 catches for 99 yards on the night.

Eagles RB D’Andre Swift scored the team’s first touchdown of the game on a four yard run. He finished the game with 12 carries for 76 yards on the ground and caugh three catches for 31 yards.

The Eagles defense played a hard fought game and shutout the Chiefs offense in the second half. Safety Kevin Byard had 8 tackles and a big interception of a Patrick Mahomes pass in the end zone. Edge Rusher Haason Reddick had a QB sack.

Mahomes went 24 of 43 passing for 177 yards, two touchdowns and one pick. WR Justin Watson led the Chiefs receivers with five catches for 53 yards.

The Eagles defense did a good job on Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. He had seven catches for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a potential go-ahead touchdown pass with 1:50 left in the game.

The Eagles won hard fought battle against a really good football team on the road and in a hostile environment. This was a battle of two of the NFL’s elite teams.

The Eagles face the Buffalo Bills at home on Sunday.
