In a game, where neither team played their starters, the Eagles beat the Browns 21 to 20. These two teams faced each other in joint practices this past week, so neither team’s starters played in this game.
Eagles back up QB Gardner Minshew looked sharp leading the offense on a couple of nice drives. Minshew gives the Eagles a good #2 QB and shows that he is able to fill in capably when called upon. Both back up RB’s, Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell ran well behind the Eagles back up offensive line. The offensive line looked really good.
Rookie center Cam Jurgens played exceptionally again. He paved the way on a few big runs. Jurgens was a steal as a 2nd round pick. Undrafted rookie free agent Josh Jobe played very well. The rookie out of Alabama is making a strong case to be on this team. Wide receiver Deon Cain played really well. Making some good catches. If, it was up to me, he would make the team over Jal Reagor. He looks like the better wide receiver to me.
The highlight play of the day, was 55 yard touchdown pass from Reid Sinnett to Devon Allen. The Olympian showed his speed burning the Browns secondary. Safeties Reed Blackenship and Jaquiski Tartt make some good plays in this game. Safety is the one area of concern for the Eagles.
All in all, it was a good performance by the Eagles. They have one preseason game left before the start of the regular season.
