Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert’s dad was a Cowboys fan and Dallas was named after the Team. But Dallas knew at the age of 7, he wasn’t about that life.

Dallas Goedert said on a recent podcast, “I’m glad to be an Eagle, Eagles fan.F the Cowboys, F all the rest of the East. Go Birds!”

The South Dakota native realizes how ironic it is that his father named him after his hated NFL East rival.

“It quickly became one of my favorite rivalries that I’ve had,” Goedert added. “Hearing the Dallas sucks chants and things like that. It’s just pretty cool knowing that’s my name. You know they’re not booing you or whatever. Just having that name and as big of a rivalry it is, it’s a cool thing.”

Dallas Goedert is officially entering his first season as the bonafide No. 1 tight end of the Philadelphia Eagles. Following the Zach Ertz trade last October, Goedert finished the season with 56 receptions for 830 yards and four touchdowns. He had a great training camp this year and is a big weapon in the Eagles talented offense. Goedert is a top five TE in the NFL. He is one of a few TE’s, who are equally adept blocking and receiving. He is primed for a big year.
