On Thursday evening, Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman traded with the Chicago Bears and moved up one spot, from No. 10 to No. 9, to select Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter and then picked Georgia pass rusher Nolan Smith at No. 30 when he fell.

Last year, the Eagles used the No. 13 overall pick on defensive tackle Jordan Davis and found a steal in linebacker Nakobe Dean in the third round.

All four players were members of 2021 Georgia defense that powered the Bulldogs to a national title. That season Georgia’s defense allowed only 10.2 points per game, gave up only 268.5 yards per game.

That Georgia defense is arguably the greatest ever in the history of college football. The Eagles are banking on those talented players to lead their defense.
