A Detroit man, whom he believes is D’Wan Sims, a child who disappeared from a mall in Livonia back in December 1994, has given police a DNA sample.

In an article by Kayla Clarke of clickondetroit.com, Sims was reported missing by his mother, Dwanna Harris, while shopping with her. Surveillance footage had shown that Harris was at the mall, but her son was not seen. Which led the investigators to believe that Sims was not with her at that time.

“I was here at the department and we looked at all of the video, we checked everything, and we never saw D’Wan with Ms. Sims,” Livionia Police Captain Ron Taig said.

Local police did reach out to Harris to obtain a possible DNA sample, but it was not clear if she cooperated with authorities.

It is rumored that the man contacted Harris on Facebook Messenger, and was immediately blocked.

Taig added that the man went down to the police station just recently, and said that the unidentified man didn’t want any information out to social media as of then.

“I guess what’s odd is that he claimed that he didn’t want any of this information out in the media and from what I understand he has put this out on social media,” Taig said.
