Detroit Lions Should Sign Former AAF Birmingham Iron’s Jamar Summers…. Here’s Why

Written by TrevStone

Jamar Summers went undrafted out of Connecticut in 2018 and then landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was cut before the start of the regular season then he landed with the Birmingham Iron of the AAF where he shined and made a name for himself. I truly believe that Summers should receive a call from Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia of the Detroit Lions.

Summers finished his AAF run with 13 tackles and three interceptions.

People on social media believe that Summers would have won defensive player of the year.

I honestly don’t want to see him in any other color than Honolulu blue because this guy is a machine. I would love to see him lining up against NFL wide outs because he tore it up in college and in the AAF.

He had a breakout season in 2015 at UConn by racking up eight interceptions and was a standout all around player in college.

Summers played all twelve games as a true freshman in college, starting the final five of the season. In his sophomore year, he started twelve of thirteen games, recording eight interceptions and 39 tackles, including a 67 yard interception return for a touchdown, earning first team All-American Athletic Conference honors.

As a junior, he started all twelve games, playing both cornerback and safety, recording two interceptions and 59 tackles, plus an 86 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Finally, as a senior, he recorded a career-high 63 tackles, in addition to one interception

Plus, he also still has practice squad eligibility, only 23 years old.

He would be a great guy to bring into the lockerroom for training camp and preseason and see what he can do. Hopefully Bob Quinn and my guy Matt Patricia give him a call.
