After picking Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs at #12 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions shifted focus to defense for their second pick in the first round.
At #18 overall, Detroit selected Iowa inside linebacker Jack Campbell for their defense.
With the pick, Campbell comes to Detroit to help solidify a linebacking corps that has struggled through large parts of the 2022 season, finishing as one of the bottom defenses in the league.
The Iowa linebacker prospect will join the likes of Alex Anzalone, Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez, and SAM linebackers Julian Okwara, James Houston and Charles Harris.
