The Minnesota Vikings announced this afternoon that star pass-rusher Danielle Hunter will be headed to the Injury Reserve. The move came hours after Ian Rappaport and Tom Pelissero reported that his status was doubtful for the season opener against Green Bay this Sunday. The pro bowl pass rusher had been sidelined most of training camp with an injury and will now miss, at least, the first three games of the season.
Hunter, 25, was fourth in the league in sacks last year and had put together back to back seasons of 14.5 sacks. He wasn’t looking to slow down as the Vikings paired him with Yannick Ngakoue in the off-season.
The Vikings first three games include bitter rival Green Bay Packers and two AFC South teams in the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. The injury is still unknown, but what is known is that Minnesota will have to prepare for at least three games without him.
