The Detroit Lions just delivered their most complete performance of the season. The Lions led the whole game and finally didn’t blow a double-digit lead. The first time since October of 2019 the Lions had a double-digit lead and didn’t blow it. It’s the small victories in life as a Lions fan. The Lions once again started the game off hot, scoring on two touchdowns of their first two drives.

The Lions took a 14-3 lead in the first and didn’t look back. The defense played its best game of the season by far. The Lions held Jacksonville to only 44 yards rushing, 2.8 yards per carry. The least amount of rushing yards the team has allowed on the road since 2013.

The Lions have only forced four turnovers all year. Only winning that turnover battle once this year, versus the Cardinals, the only game they have won. Much like the Cardinals game, the Lions won the turnover battle today. Forcing one fumble at the end of the half, and picking Minshew off early on in the game.

See what happens when you pressure the QB? Good things happen. For once, the offense didn’t slow down in the second half. Stafford threw his first career touchdown versus the Jaguars. He has now thrown a touchdown against every team in the NFL he has played against.

Stafford finished the day with 223 yards on 61% for one touchdown. He made a pretty sweet sidearm pass that if Patrick Mahomes made you would never see the end of it.

Kenny Golladay was a stud as normal. Catching for 105 yards on four catches, his first 100 yard game of the season. Making one ridiculous catch in the third quarter. Bob Quinn, I don’t know what the hell you are waiting on but pay the man his money.

Kenny Golladay wasn’t the only Lion to go for over 100 yards today. Lions rookie running back D’Andre Swift had a career day. His first carry of the day went for 54 yards. Which set the Lions up for their second TD of the game, which was scored by Swift.

Swift wasn’t done after that. He finished the day 116 yards on 14 carries, 8.3 yards per carry. Add on two touchdowns and I guess you can say that’s a pretty damn impressive performance by the rookie.

Swift was proving why he was worth that second round pick today. Swift was all over the field, showing why the Lions should use him more. He sure as hell made a case for why he should be running back number one. Swift had a record setting day for the Lions.

Thanks to the help of Swift, the Lions dominated the Jaguars. Getting the 34-16 win and improving to 2-3 on the season. Look, I’m happy about the game, but I’m not here to tell you the Lions have everything fixed and are suddenly great. The Lions played a bad Jaguars team. But the Lions did something today they never do, dominate all four quarters. It’s very rare the Lions lead the whole game, but that happened today. The offense was well balanced and was consistent all day long. While the defense looked the most complete it has all year. The season isn’t saved because of this win, but seeing rookies play well and seeing the team dominate has to give you some hope. Especially with a favorable upcoming schedule, the Lions season could get a whole lot more interesting. Anyway, celebrate this one Lions fans, these types of wins don’t happen often.
