This past weekend when the Sprint Center hosted the world’s top bull riders competing against the planet’s best-bucking bulls, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) 2020 Unleash The Beast event delivered an action-packed weekend.

As the bulls dominated round one of the two-day event, fans also got to see the world’s top 15 bull riders paired against the event’s top 15 bulls.

There were some great rides during the long round of competition, but the real excitement was saved for the bonus round.

The biggest shock of that round came from the Rockstar rising star and member of PBR Global Cup Team USA Eagles, 22-year-old Oklahoman Colten Jesse.

For the 15/15 Bucking Battle, Jesse was paired up with Lil 2 Train (16-8) – a tough bull to be paired with. On paper based on the bulls buck off record, Colten had his work cut out for him for an 8-second ride on this bull.

Jesse is a humble, soft-spoken Oklahoman who allows his riding to do the talking. As he climbed down on the back of Lil 2 Train, took his wrap and nodded for the gate to be opened and Lil 2 Train came exploding out of the chute with Jesse firmly in his seat on the bull’s back, the quiet cowboy took away Lil 2 Train’s power, and the pair danced together as the 8-second whistle blew. Jesse safely exited the bull and anxiously awaited with the fans for the judges to compile the numbers and score the ride.

PA announcer Matt West announced a 91.50-point ride, which rocketed Jesse to the top of the leader board and allowed him to capture his first career 15/15 Bucking Battle victory.

As the ride shows, Colten is a talented rider and this victory allowed him to climb up the world standings to world No. 8. He will be a rider to watch throughout the rest of the season to grab the brass ring and not let go.
