The Chicago Cubs have hired Craig Counsell to be their next Manager, as per CBS Sports HQ’s Jim Bowden.

Counsell spent nine seasons as the Manager of the Milwaukee Brewers. His contract with the Brewers expired at the end of the 2023 season.

Counsell was the top Managerial candidate available and was highly pursued by the New York Mets and Cleveland Guardians.

The 53 year-old Counsell had 707 wins as Manager of the Brewers, which is the most team history. Counsell is also the longest-serving manager in Brewers history.

Counsell guided the Brewers to three division titles and five postseason appearances. This past season he led the Brewers 92-70 record and a division title.
