Charlie Morton Gets Game 7 Nod

Written by Jameus Mooney

Charlie Morton was stellar in his first ALCS outing against the Astros, a victory that at the time gave Tampa a 2-0 series lead over his former club. They will need him to be stellar again.

This is only the second time ever that a club was down 3-0 in a series to force a game seven, and the first since the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox. Game 7 is no stranger to Charlie, yet it was in an Astros uniform the last time he pitched in one.

This is what the Rays signed the All-Star for two offseasons ago. The 36-year-old starter will be opposed by former teammate Lance McCullers Jr. He’s given up only two runs this postseason.

The Rays will look to advance to their first World Series since 2008, while the Astros look to advance to their third in four seasons and fourth overall as a franchise as they hope to avenge the sign-stealing saga.
