Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowl edge rusher Joey Bosa will have surgery to repair a groin injury and will be placed on injured reserve. The former No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft was trying to rush Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, but slipped as he was attempting to get around the edge. He laid on the ground as the team’s medical staff came to look at him, and he limped back to the sideline. Bosa did not return to the game.

Bosa will undergo core muscle surgery in Philadelphia. The Chargers expect him back later this season. The 27 year old Bosa has missed time before with injuries. He missed four games as a rookie in 2016 (hamstring), was shut down for nine during the 2018 season (foot) and missed four more contests in 2020 (two concussions).
