Celtics Scoop-Up Pelicans’ Defense

Written by Connor McLoughlin

With a final score of 113-100, the Boston Celtics are 2-0 against the New Orleans Pelicans this season. Tonight’s games there was a big change up from the people that played in relation to the starting lineup and the overall combination of players.

The starting five changed again tonight and it just shows that nothing is set in stone yet for Brad Stevens and the Celtics, “Can’t knock it still ya try it” is the perfect saying to apply to this situation. Player of the game was Marcus Morris Sr. with 31 points, which is massive for him because it shows he wants to be a part of this team and he shows that on the court and those three straight three pointers were just fire.

It was nice seeing players that don’t get a lot of minutes to play tonight, from Semi Ojeleye to Brad Wanamaker and Robert Williams III; though this is due to injuries, it was still a nice little change up and the more players to get used to these situations shows that this Celtics team can step up.

Just because there were so many major players out tonight (Baynes, Hayward, Horford, Irving) doesn’t mean that this Celtics team can fail. Brad Stevens said in his post-game interview, “We had a problem with players not stepping up with other players out, and even though it was perfect, it’s a lot better.” Great quote from Stevens, I’m wondering if this will be the case for the net game against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday 🤔
