Canelo And Plant Deal Almost Done

Written by EricLyonsTV

The fight we are all waiting for is closer to being a done deal. ESPN’s Mike Coppinger says that a draft contract was given to Canelo Alvarez with a September 18th date and fight on PBC FOX PPV. Canelo Alvarez (56-1-2) and Caleb Plant (21-0) have been on a collision course at 168 for some time now, it’s time to get it on. All the titles on the line with the best fighting the best is exactly what boxing needs right now. This will be huge for both fighters especially the winner.

You look at Caleb Plant whose swift speed and power has seen him remain undefeated with 12 knockouts under his belt. At 29 years old Plant looks to stop the Canelo train and become the undisputed champion at 168 pounds. Plant won the IBF title back in 2019 with a unanimous decision win over Jose Uzcatgui. Caleb Plant has skill, I can’t take that away from him but does he have enough skill to dethrone the king of boxing?

Canelo Alvarez is a four division champion who has won titles at super welterweight, middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight. The pound for pound king just turned 31 on the 18th and looks to add to his extensive resumé. A win over Plant could solidify his name has one of if not the greatest Mexican boxer of all time. No let’s take it a step further, if Canelo Alvarez becomes the undisputed champion at 168, he will be the greatest boxer of all time. The only boxer with a body of work close to Canelo’s is the one who makes money from fighting Youtube stars now.
