Boxing superstar, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs), 31 was poised to face off against IBF super middleweight title holder Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant (21-1, 12 KOs), 29, on Saturday in the boxing capital of the world, Las Vegas.

What started out as an electric fight between two worthy opponents ended up in Plant eating the canvas in Round 11. Plant looked physically larger in the ring possessing a 3.5 inch reach advantage and 5 inch height advantage.

Early on in the fight, Plant utilized his jab and feints to keep Canelo at bay and capitalize with lefts to the body, but Plant was no match for the king of boxing as Canelo marched forward and connected his lethal combination in Round 11.

“A brutal left hook followed by an even more vicious right uppercut floored Plant. He never recovered. On unsteady legs, Plant attempted to escape danger but Alvarez sensed the moment. He closed in with a barrage of shots that dropped Plant again as referee Russell Mora halted the bout at .45 of Round 11,” as described by ESPN.

Canelo made history tonight by becoming the first ever undisputed super middleweight champion

He now owns the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF super middleweight (168lb) titles. All hail the King of Boxing.
