Calvin Johnson went on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. The former wide receiver talked about a lot of different topics, his early career, from marijuana use, to his marijuana company, retiring early, and his current situation with the Lions.

One topic that caught the attention of Lions fans was when Matt Barnes asked if he could choose any quarterback to play for who would it be? Calvin said Aaron Rodgers and that has to be painful for Lions fans to hear. It would have been different if Johnson would have said someone like Tom Brady or Drew Brees but, to say the division rival of the Lions? Man, that hurts. Rodgers has haunted the Lions, going 16-5 against Detroit in his career. Rodgers is pretty much the sole reason why the Lions didn’t win the division in 2011, 2014, and 2016. Rodgers is looked at by Lions fans as the biggest villain, and now the best wide receiver in Lions history says he would have loved to play with him. That stings.

Calvin mentioned Rodgers before that question was asked. Talking about how Rodgers used to recruit him every time they played each other. “Whenever we played Green Bay, whenever Aaron Rodgers was over on our sidelines, I’d just be standing there, He was like ‘Hey man come on over here.’ I was like man I wish I could.” That just sucks to hear for Lions fans and there’s no way around it. There is no debating a Rodgers/Johnson duo would have been scary good, probably the best wide receiver and quarterback duo ever.

If you haven’t listened to the full episode, I highly recommend it. Calvin tells some awesome stories and touches on why he still hasn’t done anything with the Lions since retiring. Lions, please just pay the man his money. He deserves it.
