Buffalo Bills Cut Kelvin Benjamin

Written by Charlie Mitelhaus

After just 18 appearances with the Buffalo Bills (4-8), the team has cut the 27-year-old wide receiver from Florida State University. This season, Benjamin has caught 23 balls for 354 receiving yards and one touchdown through three-quarters of the 2018 NFL campaign. Despite his 6’5 245 lb. frame, Pro Football Focus has graded him as the NFL’s 109th best wide receiver this year. Benjamin will now be on waivers, however, due to his $8.5 million contract and his play this season, it is unlikely that he will end up on an NFL roster before the season comes to a close. Any interested teams that are in need of a tall jump-ball threat wide receiver will most likely begin the negotiation process in the off-season where they will be able to offer a different contract. With 16 touchdowns in his first two years in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, the big man from FSU has proven that he can produce at this level, just maybe not as a true number one wide receiver option like Buffalo relied on him to be. Look for a team to snag the recently dropped Benjamin this off-season.
