Buck Showalter could be one step closer to coming back to anew York as a manager.

The 65-year-old former manager of the New York Yankees is set to interview with the New York Mets, a job that he’s viewed for as the favorite to land.

New Mets ace pitcher Max Scherzer reportedly has told the team that Showalter is his preference for the manager job.

The Mets apparently have also interviewed former Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus earlier this week.

Showalter last managed in MLB back in 2018 with the Baltimore Orioles.
