Bryce Harper to begin rehab assignment

Written by Tony Ghaul

Philadelphia Phillies star outfielder to begin rehab assignment in Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. If everything goes well, he could return to the Phillies lineup next Monday in Arizona. Harper has missed the last two months with a fractured thumb.

The Phillies reigning NL MVP was off to great start with 15 home runs, 48 RBI’s and a .318 batting average. Harper had been the designated hitter for most of the year, due to a injured elbow. He was injured on June 25 in San Diego when he was hit by a Blake Snell 97 MPH fastball fracturing his left thumb.

The Phillies are in the thick of a playoff race and could really use their best hitter back in the lineup. Harper should provide a much needed spark. He is the leader and the heart and soul of the team.
