Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper will give the classic “start your engines” command at NASCAR’s Pennzoil 400 on Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“I’ve been a fan of NASCAR for quite some time now, so being asked to give the command, especially at my hometown track, just checks off another box on my to-do list as a fan,” Harper said. “I’m looking forward to being a part of this awesome event.”
Harper is a Las Vegas native. He attended Las Vegas High School and also played baseball at the College of Southern Nevada.
The reigning NLCS MVP is scheduled to report to Phillies Spring Training next week. Harper is expected to be back in the Phillies lineup around the All-Star break as he rehabs from Tommy John surgery following a UCL injury he suffered during the 2022 season.
