A scary moment happened tonight when Bryce Harper was struck in the face with a 97 mph fastball by by St Louis Cardinals pitcher, Genesis Cabrera.
As seen in the video, Cabrera also hit the next batter, Dudu Gregorious with a 95 mph fastball. That pitch hit Gregorius in the back and it happened on back-to-back pitches.
Fortunately, Bryce Harper provided an update later in the evening indicating that all testing came back well. No conclusion, hematoma, etc.
“(It got him) more cheek, probably a little bit of his nose,” Phillies manager Joe Girardi said during his postgame conference call with reporters, adding Harper was taken to the hospital for evaluation. “We hope there’s no fractures. He was bleeding. He’s a tough character. Say a prayer.”
