Britt Baker and Rey Fenix Out of AEW Double or Nothing

Written by Nick Byington

As announced on AEW’s Twitter on Friday evening, both Britt Baker and Rey Fenix have been removed from Double or Nothing due to injury. Both were scheduled to compete in high profile matches, with Britt Baker facing Kris Statlander and Rey Fenix participating in the Casino Ladder match for a shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Both were injured on Dynamite earlier this week.

Britt Baker was injured in a tag team match where she teamed with Nyla Rose against Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander. Towards the end of the match, Shida and Statlander attempted to Death Valley Driver Rose into a seated Baker. Rose ended up landing on Baker’s knee, and she was seen getting checked on at the end of the match. She is rumored to have torn her ACL. She will be replaced at Double or Nothing by Penelope Ford.

As for Rey Fenix, he faced fan favorite Orange Cassidy in a Casino Ladder match preview. Although he defeated Orange Cassidy, there was a large brawl after the match involving many of the participants in the ladder match. During this brawl, Fenix took a dive to the outside onto a large group of people. However, no one caught Fenix, and he landed hard on the floor. AEW has described his injuries as minor and he is expected to return soon. He will be replaced in the Casino Ladder match by Joey Janela.

Pro Sports Extra wishes both the best in their recovery. How will these unfortunate injuries change how things play out this Saturday at Double or Nothing? Have these injuries changed your predictions?
