The Russian and Ukrainian Conflict does not seem to be ending any time soon. Over the past week, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has dominated headlines with pictures and images of the Russian military committing war crimes. The Ukrainian nation has even gotten to the point whereby they are arming private citizens and encouraging them to fight back against Russian forces.
Just a little while ago, things have become even more tenuous when Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his country’s deterrence forces – including nuclear arms – be placed on the highest alert.
Putin was quoted saying the following:
“Top officials in leading NATO countries have allowed themselves to make aggressive comments about our country, therefore I hereby order the Minister of Defense and the chief of the General Staff to place the Russian Army Deterrence Force on combat alert,” Putin said in a televised meeting with top Russian defense officials.
