According to the Sports Business Journal, the NFL and NFL Players Association have finalized a deal with EA Sports for the exclusive rights to the MADDEN football franchise. The relationship between the two will continue through 2025, with an option to extend through 2026.
This should come as no surprise to anyone. The EA Madden series is one of the most commercially successful gaming franchises of all time. It is one of 11 series in history sell over 100 million copies, and last years Madden 20 had the most profitable final-week of pre-orders in the franchise’s history.
The titles next entry Madden 21 has already been announced, with reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson set to grace the cover for the first time in his career.
