It has been several weeks since Gabby Petito’s fugitive fiance Brian Laundrie was last seen by his family. His last known whereabouts were allegedly the Carlton Reserve in southwest Florida where he was presumably hiking.

However, that may have changed as a recently released 911 call could possibly have him placed in North Carolina. A hiker along the Appalachian Trail said he believes he saw Laundrie near the border of North Carolina and Tennessee.

Copied below is a transcript of the recently released 911 call:

“I’m on the highway right now but, um, I ran into Brian (Laundrie) just a little while ago,” the caller said.

“As I turned around, and I’m coming back by him, he’s waving his arm out of his truck like for me to slow down,” the caller said. “He was talking wild. He said that his girlfriend [unintelligible] and he had to go out to California to see her and he was asking me how to get to California.”

“I went and parked and pulled up the photographs of him, and I’m 99.99% sure that was him,” the caller added.

The unidentified caller also went on to specify that Laundrie was in a white truck.

According to local police, the 911 call came in around 2:40pm this past Saturday. In a public statement, the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office said, “We will continue to respond and fully investigate all calls for service related to the nationwide search for Mr. Laundrie.”
