Welcome to 2019 – What you may read could offend you.

Following the latest trend of Americans demeaning Native American names and culture, a news station based out of the Bay Area (KTVU-FOX) showed a caption over the St. Louis Cardinals celebrating their Game 5 NLDS win over the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Park.

This caption comes out the day that the Atlanta Braves announced Wednesday that they wouldn’t distribute foam tomahawks to the fans after Cardinals reliever Ryan Helsley viewing the ritual as “disrespectful.” Helsley is also a member of the Cherokee Nation. This obviously took the homefield advantage out from the Braves, as there was no War Chant on repeat all game.

This didn’t seem to help Atlanta’s cause, as St. Louis jumped out to a 10-0 lead early on and didn’t look back, beating the Braves tonight 13-1.

Maybe a “Cardinals Soar Over the Braves” headline caption would’ve deemed to be more appropriate.

The Cardinal Way will fly into the NLCS, either getting a best-of-seven set with the Nationals, who defeated Los Angeles 7-3 on a 10th inning Howie Kendrick Grand Slam off Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly. Easily playing their best baseball at the right time.
