This is surprising to say the least. The Thunder weren’t expected to make much noise this season, after losing their two best players last season in Russell Westbrook and Paul George. The Thunder came into the season with a 0.2% chance to make the playoffs. Hell, most people expected them to tank. The Thunder took the league by surprise and finished with a record of 44-28 and earned the five seed in the Western Conference. Despite losing to the Rockets in the first round everyone took the Thunder season as a success. Rightfully so, as the team, surpassed everyone’s expectations.
That what makes this move so surprising. Donovan has been with the Thunder for five season posing a record of 243-157. He never missed the playoffs and reached the conference finals once. He won co-coach of the year with Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer. Don’t be surprised if Donavan gets hired fast.
