Baker Mayfield has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns

Written by Doug Rush

The Cleveland Browns pursued Deshaun Watson and were told no thank you.

Now, they have to deal with their current quarterback. Baker Mayfield, who has now told the Browns that he wants a trade from the franchise.

Mayfield was the former number one overall pick of Cleveland in the 2018 NFL Draft and lead Cleveland to the playoffs in 2020 and won a playoff game for them.

But with the Browns openly pursuing Watson, it gave a clear message to Mayfield that they wanted someone else. However, they have told Mayfield that they won’t trade him, which will create some tension.

Who blinks first?

Will the Browns accommodate Mayfield and deal him out of town? Or will Mayfield let bygones be bygones and forgive the Browns for at least one more season?

Let the off-season drama begin in Cleveland.
