Oakland Athletics No. 3 overall prospect Mason Miller was impressive in his MLB debut. He gave up two earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched to go along with five strikeouts.
Miller’s fastball was the highlight of the game. He became just the 10th pitcher during the Statcast era to throw 15 or more 100 MPH-plus pitches in a game, as per MLB Pipeline.
The 24 year-old Miller was drafted in 2021 by the A’s in the third round. He has a live arm, but he’s still learning to work on control of the strike zone.
Miller’s velocity is very impressive. He also has a slider and changeup in his repertoire.
The A’s the worst record in the league and are in the middle of a rebuild. Miller is a bright spot for the A’s and his development is crucial in their rebuilding effort.
Miller could become the ace of the Athletics at some point in the near future.
