Arizona Cardinals To Name Joshua Dobbs Starting QB For Week 1

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Arizona Cardinals are expected have Josh Dobbs as their starting QB this week, with rookie Clayton Tune getting backup reps. They’ll evaluate the situation each week, as per Ian Rapoport.

Cardinals Head Coach Jonathan Gannon had been keeping the starting QB a secret, but now it has been leaked that Dobbs will be starting.

Gannon will be evaluating the situation each week. Last year’s starting QB Kyler Murray tore his ACL and meniscus in Week 14 of last season and was left on the PUP list after the Cardinals concluded their preseason. By doing so, it ensured that Murray will sit out at least the first four weeks of the year.

Dobbs was a fourth-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2017 NFL Draft. Dobbs started two games for the Tennessee Titans last year.

The Cardinals seem to be tanking the 2023 season to select USC QB Caleb Williams or one the many other QBs entering the 2024 NFL Draft.
