The number one pick in this years draft, Anthony Edwards, played in his third preseason game tonight. This was the best Edwards has looked. He stared off hot scoring 11 points in his first eight minutes of play.
Edwards finished the game with 17/3/3 in 26 minutes while coming off the bench. Hs defense has been better than anyone expected. His most impressive play of the night was when he locked up the next face of the NBA, Luka Doncic.
Almost everyone questioned Edward’s defensive ability coming out of college, including myself. It was a fair question. At Georgia, the dawgs had a defensive rating of 110.1 with Edwards on the floor, compared to 103 with Edwards off the court. Not that I thought he was a bad defender. It was more about his defensive effort. So far, Edwards is surprising people on the defensive end. Edwards keeps improving game by game and at the age of 19, he’s only going to get better.
