Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani’s locker has been cleared out and the team refused to say why.
Ohtani missed his 11th straight game with an oblique muscle injury. As per the Associated Press, nearly all of Ohtani’s personal belongings have been taken out of his locker, with only a fully-packed bag from this year’s All-Star Game and a few workout shirts are all that remain.
The 29 year-old Ohtani has 44 home runs with 95 RBIs and a .304 batting average this season. As a pitcher, he has 10 wins and 167 strikeouts in 132 innings pitched with a 3.14 ERA.
Ohtani is no longer pitching this season because of a tear in his right elbow. He has now been down as a hitter due to an oblique strain in batting practice. Ohtani is the favorite to win the AL MVP. He previously won the award in 2021.
Ohtani will be a free agent this winter. He has not commented about his future. His recent injuries may have impacted the amount of money he will command as a free agent. My belief is that he has played his last game in a Angels uniform.
