Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon is reportedly under police investigation following an altercation with a fan after their Opening Day loss to the Oakland Athletics, as per TMZ.
Rendon got in a physical confrontation with the fan. He is seen grabbing the fans jacket, using profane language before appearing to take a swing at him.
The incident happened as the Angels were headed to the clubhouse after a 2-1 loss where Rendon struggled at the plate.
Rendon finished the game 0-for-3, striking out two times. The oft-injured Rendon hasn’t yet played 100 games since joining the Angels as a high priced free agent in 2020.
Punishment from the MLB may happen soon. The league office certainly will not be happy to see one of their players put hands on a paying fan.
