Amanda Bynes was reportedly placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after she called 911 on herself, TMZ has reported. Bystanders reported that they saw the former child star wandering naked and alone around downtown Los Angeles.
It is believed that when she came out from her psychotic episode, she flagged down an upcoming car to ask for help. The troubled star was immediately brought to a nearby police station to be evaluated.
After Bynes was checked by a mental health team, they concluded that it was in everybody’s best interest that the actress will be detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization.
Bynes’s ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, suggested that the actress might have been ‘putting her meds off’ in recent weeks. Back in 2014, Bynes claimed on Twitter that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and manic depression. She was also open to the public about her addiction to the prescription drug, Adderall.
It was also reported that she hasn’t been in contact with her family or friends for ‘quite some time’.
Bynes famously dated former minor league baseball player and fellow actor Doug Reinhardt from 2008 to 2009. After starring in a handful of hit movies in the 2000s, Bynes struggled away from the spotlight and is constantly on the news for the wrong reasons. We all hope that she sticks to the program this time and comes back better and healthier.
