UFC Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is set to unify his belt with interim champ Petr Yan this weekend in Jacksonville, and Aljo is looking fantastic. He posted a series of Instagram photos today claiming to be in the best shape of his life, and I certainly believe him. Check it out.
I don’t know how its possible to be so unbelievably vascular, but the guy does look great. And you know what, I think he’s gonna do it on Saturday. As an east coaster myself, am I bias towards anyone who trains in the area? Oh yeah. But I believe in Aljo. I really do.
Hot take: the first fight was way closer than people remember. Yeah it got a little ugly towards the end for Sterling, and on paper, the numbers don’t look great, but if you’re scoring the fight on a round-by-round basis it was actually pretty close. One judge even had it 2-1 Aljo going into that fourth round.
So yeah, I’m definitely picking Aljo to win this fight, and rooting for him even harder. If you’re rooting for another Dagestani champ over a homegrown New York king you’re just an unamerican boob. Aljamain Sterling is not the heel in this situation. He’s a nice man who unfortunately has to fight a Russian. That sucks. If Petr Yan met your puppy he’d kick it. Don’t root for that guy.
