Alabama Defensive Coordinator Pete Golding was arrested early Thursday morning on a DUI charge. The University has not yet responded to Golding’s arrest, but this is obviously not a great look for the University. I wouldn’t expect anything to happen to Golding or his position, as this is his first arrest. Golding was hired onto Nick Saban’s staff in 2018 as a defensive assistant. The following season in 2019, Golding was promoted to Defensive Coordinator and has held the title since. Golding has been up and down as the DC but helped the Tide win a national championship in 2020. Hopefully, Golding can find the help he needs, and this won’t be a recurring issue with him. Even as an Auburn fan, I hate to see this and wish him the best.
