Ah yes, ESPN’s list of the top 100 players came out this week and everyone got to react to the list. As always, ESPN’s list didn’t make much sense and was a pretty awful list. ESPN had Zion Williamson ranked 19th overall over guys like Karl Anthony Towns, Paul George, Kyrie Irving, and Trae Young. Those are just to name a few. ESPN also ranked Tyler Herro over DeMar DeRozan, a rookie compared to a nine year veteran who just averaged 22.1 points per game on 53.1% shooting. DeMar didn’t take too kindly to that.
This lists has a lot of problems. Now, we get to the top ten, where Luka is ranked number four.
Luka is fantastic, the future of the NBA. He averaged 28.8/9.4/8.8 in his second year in the NBA. But to say he’s better than Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Kawhi is a little insane to me. When healthy, Durant is the second best player in the league, obviously we will have to see how his achilles is this season. Steph healthy is the best point guard in the league, and the best shooter in the world. Plus, Kawhi is the best two way player in the NBA. Luka is definitely the future of basketball, he’s only 21 years old. It’s not a knock on Luka saying he isn’t as good as the guys previously named, if anything it is a compliment that he’s in a conversation with these players at this young of a age.
I can’t wait to watch Luka this season. December 22nd needs to hurry up.
