The Phillies lost 8-5 to the Braves in the opening game of a 4-game series against their divisional rivals.
Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola gave up 3 home runs and exited after six innings. He allowed allowed eight hits, five earned runs and two walks with seven strikeouts.
“I didn’t execute well tonight,” Nola said. “I didn’t miss any balls over the plate. Hit some bad pitches, made a couple of good ones. I mean, they pretty much held me tonight. Riley got me pretty good for three RBIs. Ozuna had a couple. It was just not a great night.”
Offensively, the Phillies had a good night. Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 with a home run and runs scored. Alec Bohm went went 2-for-4 with a home run. The Phillies had 11 hits on the night.
Harper’s 445-foot blast in the fifth inning tied the game (4-4). It was his 40th career homer against the Braves.
The Phillies will send RHP Taijuan Walker to the mound against Braves rookie LHP Jared Shuster. First pitch is at 7:20 PM.
