The Philadelphia Phillies are focused working out an extension for starting pitcher Aaron Nola. Contract negotiations with Nola’s representatives have already started, as per NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark.

Nola is coming off a good season, after having a down year in 2021. In 32 starts, he won eleven games, posted a 3.25 ERA, struck out 235 and walked just 29 in 205 innings pitched.

The Phillies drafted Nola seventh overall out of LSU in 2014. He turns 30 on June 4. Nola entering his ninth season with the Phillies and is the club’s longest-tenured player.

Nola, Rhys Hoskins, Craig Kimbrel and Josh Harrison are the only Phils scheduled to reach free agency after the 2023 season. The price tag for Nola’s next contract should be very high. Getting a deal done with Nola will be the club’s top priority.
